Homemade icypoles are a summer staple, aren’t they? No nasty additives, all fruit and packed full of goodness.
You can adjust the amount of mango to pear, depending on how strict you need to be on salicylates/amines. My ratio is about half/half or decrease the mango if you’re on a stricter diet.
100% fruit, gluten and dairy free
1 mango, peeled and flesh sliced off into blender
1 x 550g jar pears, drained, rinsed and blended (I use Festive Fruit Pear Halves from Aldi, as they are in syrup, not juice, so lower in salicylates and have a hint of vanilla – plus they’re in glass, so no BPA)
Pour mango into the bottom of each mould and top with pear
Place lids on and freeze for a couple of hours before devouring
Variation Try one apple (red delicious for lower salicylates), 3/4 jar pears in syrup and flesh off one mango seed with a little water and/or syrup so it’s not too thick to whizz up. Enjoy.
