I know, I know, it’s still a chocolate brownie, right? How can it be good for us? Well, it’s all in the substitutions and additions!
…Choc ‘Yogo’ with healthy xylitol or honey
If you’re a 1970’s baby, like me, I bet you remember chocolate yogo?!
…Action plan for sensitivity
When we suspect food intolerance, or sensitivity, what do we do next?
The kids or you are always getting sick. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Endless colds. Chronic eczema. Tummy pains. Runny poos, or non existent poos. Grumpy and moody. And that’s just you! 😉
…Women – do we need to do it all?
Being a Woman. Is that synonymous with Doing It All? Why does society give us this message? And how can we shut that out to live a healthier, happier, whole life?
…Simple buckwheat pancakes
Do you love a simple recipe? Is 4 or 5 ingredients and a quick stir together your ideal way of cooking? Then these beautifully simple buckwheat pancakes will be just right. They are equally delicious for the non-sensitive members of the family. And are light but also filling, to keep everyone satisfied. Serve with bacon for the absolute win!
…Wheat or gluten sensitivity?
Some of us react to gluten… but others may just be reacting to wheat! Do you know how to tell the difference between wheat or gluten sensitivity? Or which foods to eat or avoid?
Common symptoms of wheat or gluten sensitivity are bloating, emotional outbursts, aches and pains, problem skin and headaches. If you have any of these, you may have a wheat or gluten sensitivity.
And why are these symptoms affecting so many more of us than before? Because one of the most inflammatory things we can eat is Australian wheat!
…Sultana and yoghurt biccies
I’m a sucker for biccies, as anyone who knows me, knows. These healthy, little biccies have so many variations, you can really just use whatever is in the pantry – so long as you have some GF flour, yoghurt and sultanas, you’ll be set!
…Buckwheat Granola – Activated or Quick
Granola that’s healthy and inexpensive
Do you sometimes baulk at the price of healthy, activated cereals and granolas which are made from wholeseome ingredients like nuts, seeds, and buckwheat? I definitely do.
What about when your favourite, intolerance-friendly cereal isn’t on the shelf? Very annoying! Do you go to the other shop, wasting your precious time, just to get one thing?
Or do you buy something else, knowing it’s not as good for you or might make you just a little bit sick?
…Natural medicine vs Western – lifestyle is key to health
Western (or allopathic) medicine is characterised by doctors, medicine and treating symptoms. Natural medicine is all about healers, with a focus on finding the cause, and helping the body to heal itself, the way nature intended. The more medicines we take, the more side effects we get. The more medicines we need, to treat all the side effects. To me, that sounds like a broken system. Take ADHD for example. It is a chemical imbalance and we are surrounded by chemicals in our food and environment, many of them toxic. Is adding more with medications, and not looking at the cause, really going to improve the patient’s quality of life, long-term?
…Creamy mayo & why fats are great for you!
Fats, fats, yummy fats! We are programmed to love a combo of fat and salt, or fat and sugar – think French fries, or cake. But are fats bad for us? Definitely not! In fact, they are essential. Hence my delicious mayo recipe (intolerance friendly of course, with egg white-free version, oil options for low salicylates and citric acid free).
